The Stunning Trailer for BBC's Blue Planet II Will Blow You Away

Ocean lovers rejoice: Blue Planet II is real, and it looks spectacular.

BBC America is set to release the sequel to the award-winning 2001 ocean documentary Blue Planet on Jan. 20, 2018, and judging by the recently released prequel trailer (and reviews from our friends in the U.K., who have already seen the series to completion on BBC), this could be one of the most impressive documentary series of our time.

The series will be released on BBC America and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The trailer, which can be seen above, features the debut of an exclusive track by Radiohead and composer Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Lion King) titled “(ocean) bloom.”

“Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and reimagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel,” says Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke in a release. “Hans is a prodigious composer who effortlessly straddles several musical genres so it was liberating for us all to work with such a talent and see how he wove the sound of the series and Bloom together.”

The trailer features absolutely stunning 4K footage of some of the ocean’s most amazing residents: dancing yeti crabs, forests of kelp, hunting dolphins, spawning bumphead parrotfish and so much more. If you ask us, 2018 can’t get here soon enough.
