PV the good, bad and ugly

IMG_0027.JPG

Just returned from PV on June 2, 2007. Did nine dives while there including a night dive. This was my first time to dive in Pacific waters and oh what a difference from the Caribbean. Visability was poor until you got down 20-25 ft from the surface. After that it was OK at 35-50 ft. Water temp required a full body 5 ml wetsuit. Even with that it was chilly to me. With all that said the biggest negative is the distance to the best dive sites. El Morro was 35 miles out taking a hour and fifteen minutes Chimo was further than that. So the diving pretty well dominates your day.

Even on the surface on the trips to dive sites we saw manta rays, dolphins and turtles. Underwater an abundance of critters was seen on each dive. Moray eels other than the Caribbean green eels I'm used to abounded. We saw one great frogfish. Different colorations for the angelfish were pretty but not as pretty to me as the French and Queen angelfish I've encountered in the Caribbean. I saw dozens of puffers on each dive with one dive having numerous small sting rays. We did have one seahorse sighting. Overall a good variety of fish encountered. The tunnel at El Morro is a good dive for those wanting a wide tunnel for a swim through. I used Pacific Scuba and was very pleased with them.
