Voom's Treasure HD Goes Deep Underwater For Bold New Adventure Series, Treasure Divers

New York, December 18, 2006 - Voom's Treasure HD, the first and only high definition channel for people with a passion for collecting, today announced the June 2007 premiere of a bold, new original series, Treasure Divers. The first high-definition television series dedicated to this daring and visually stunning quest, Treasure Divers will feature six, one-hour episodes that follow the exploits of two of the world's most renowned underwater treasure seekers, Captains Carl 'Fizz' Fismer and Gary Mace.

Treasure Divers is the first television series to provide an inside look at the little known and rarely filmed world of underwater treasure excavation. Throughout the series, shipwreck treasure historian Captain Carl 'Fizz' Fismer and dive instructor Captain Gary Mace will troll a host of underwater wrecks in search of riches, both monetary and historic. Traveling in state-of-the-art research and recovery vessels, Fismer, Mace and the crew will visit various wreck sites throughout the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, including:

  • Deadeye Bone Yard - In the Gulf of Mexico off of the Florida's coast, Fizz discovers a 1800s-era wooden deadeye, elephant tusks and a cannon lying amongst the wreckage. The crew dives to try and find out if this slave ship, which once carried human cargo, was heading back to Europe with a hold full of cash.

  • 1715 Fleet/Treasure Coast - Along with the 110' foot search and salvage vessel New World Legacy, Fizz and Captain Gary return to the Treasure Coast near Fort Pierce Florida and the site of the 1715 fleet. Here 12 heavily laden galleons on their way back to Spain were smashed into a shallow reef by heavy winds. Millions in silver and gold have been recovered, and millions more have not… including 2 of the missing ships. Fizz worked this area for over 10 years and has been called in once again by the New World Legacy to help pull in some of the missing gold.

  • The Caves - Fifty miles off Key West, the ocean shallows to 30 feet where a Spanish gold plate was found 30 years ago. Here, Fizz has discovered concentric entrances to three caves and a piece of pottery dating back 10,000 years. Captain Gary and the New World Legacy have detected a large metal hit on the site. Was this the site of a prehistoric society, and possibly the final resting ground of a missing sister ship of the famous Atocha, which yielded over $450 million in Spanish treasure?
"Treasure Divers is a series that will bring an epic activity, the search for undersea treasure, to life for armchair adventures though the visual brilliance of high-definition," said George Lansbury, Executive Producer for Treasure HD. "We are thrilled to add this spectacular and visually stunning series to our growing library of HD Programming."

Carl 'Fizz' Fismer is a preeminent expert in shipwreck and artifact identification and has explored, salvaged and consulted on about 300 shipwrecks in the Bahamas, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, and the Southeast United States. He has over 35 years of treasure hunting and diving experience where he has successfully recovered treasure from the Spanish Galleon wrecks of 1580, 1618, 1622, 1627, 1631, 1641, 1715, 1733 and 1800.

Gary Mace owns Conch Republic Divers in the Florida Keys and is a US Coast Guard master Captain. His dive certifications include PADI and SDI/TDI Master Dive Instructor, cave diving, advanced nitrox and tri-mix blender. He has over 35 years of diving experience. Conch Republic Divers was recently voted the Number 1 dive shop in the Florida Keys by the readers of Scuba Diving magazine.
