Recently, two surfers had an unlikely encounter with one baby seal while surfing near Amble in Northumberland. Matthew Stanley and Andrew Flounders said they had been in the water for nearly an hour when the seal made its appearance.

The seal seemed to want to be on the surf boards but could never quite stay on.

"It kept sliding off, but every time you caught a wave it would surf in on the white water," Stanley told the BBC.
