IST Synthesis
Built on the design of IST’s Panorama mask, the Synthesis also uses lightweight yet strong 6000-series aluminum for the frame, then adds plastic-injection construction for additional support. This provides a beefed-up, durable frame, and testers agreed the aluminum felt no heavier than a typical frame. In fact, the Synthesis’ weight is the same as many of the masks in this test. The Synthesis is easy to clear and equalize, and with buckles attached to the skirt, the close-to-the-eyes fit reduces internal volume, making equalization a snap. Travel and tec divers alike will appreciate the mask’s folding ability.
