Curaçao: A Unique Caribbean Treasure

Located less than 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela, tucked away on the outer fringes of the hurricane belt, lies the undiscovered island of Curaçao.

With more than 60 identified dive locations surrounding its coastline, 57 coral species and more than 500 species of fish, it is no wonder Curaçao has been rated one of the best Caribbean islands for diving and snorkeling.

Beyond Curaçao's more than 35 beaches of remarkable variety, lies a one-of-a kind underwater wonderland, providing some of the most colorful and awe-inspiring scenes imaginable. The island is home to the world's only Mushroom Forest made from mountains of star coral, as well as the richest collection of sea anemones in the world.

On land, exploring Curaçao is equally unique. Adventurous travelers can discover the island by foot, horseback, mountain bike or on an exhilarating ATV ride. Curaçao is full of inspiring landscapes and distinctive trails--many of which are unreachable by car and visited by few--such as the island's highest point, the 1,230-foot Mount Christoffel, which lies in a reserved wildlife park.

Wearing a comfortable pair of walking shoes is the best way to discover the rich European culture and colorful Dutch architecture showcased in Curaçao's unique capital city of Willemstad. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage city, Willemstad provides visitors with impressive museums, art galleries and local and international cuisine as a result of the more than 55 nationalities that make up Curaçao's multi-cultural past.

From its spectacular diving and crystal clear water to its remarkable history and cuisine, Curaçao offers something for everyone.
