Shark Bite Donut

As part of its sponsorship of Discovery Channel's Shark Week, Dunkin' Donuts has unveiled a life-preserver doughnut.

They say America runs on Dunkin' — and apparently Shark Week does, too.

Starting August 4, the coffee chain will serve up a brand-new treat themed specifically for the shark-themed TV event. Called the Shark Bite, this nautical doughnut is frosted in red and white to resemble a life preserver — though we don't recommend you try to use it for life-saving purposes.

The release is tied to Dunkin Donut's "Take a Bite, Take a Pic" campaign, which encourages restaurant patrons to snap selfies with their favorite breakfast item. Photos posted to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #DDSharkWeek will be featured on Discovery Channel's website and are eligible to win prizes including a $100 gift certificate.
