The Cayman Islands Offers Kids A Summer School Like No Other
New York, New York, March 28, 2007 - The Cayman Islands offers kids a whole new kind of summer school this year with Sir Turtle's Sea School, in session every Thursday, beginning June 1. A free afternoon program for kids ages 5-11, Sir Turtle's Sea School gives children (and their parents) the chance to learn about marine life, historic shipwrecks, and Caymanian heritage, in the world's best natural classroom - the Cayman Islands.
Sir Turtle's Sea School allows kids the chance to participate in hands-on activities such as interactive storytelling, arts and crafts projects, and treasure hunts. Parents will accompany their children to school, for a swashbuckling welcome party with Cayman's popular mascot Sir Turtle alongside his pirate and wench friends. Kids can act the part too, choosing their very own pirate costume out of a magical treasure trunk of clothes, before being regaled with fascinating legends and facts surrounding the shipwrecks off the Cayman Islands.
Aside from learning about Caymanian culture and folklore, participants in Sir Turtle's Sea School will also learn about marine ecology and sea life, and how to preserve this precious resource during interactive chats with Sir Turtle complete with props and fun challenge questions for the audience. By providing an entertaining and learning environment, Sir Turtle's Sea School will capture children's minds and equip them with knowledge which will begin to shape their values and way of life in the future.
When school is out, kids will be presented with an original completion certificate and be given the chance for a special photo opp with Sir Turtle himself.
Sir Turtle's Sea School takes place at Boatswain's Beach, one of Cayman's newest and most exciting attractions, every Thursday from 3:00-5:00 PM, with tasty refreshments and Caymanian treats being served all afternoon. It is FREE as part of the Cayman Summer Splash Promotion.
Kids who can't wait for Sir Turtle's Sea School can get a head start online by visiting www.caymanislands.ky for info on the program, puzzles and games.
