Baja California Sur To Exhibit At 2008 DEMA Show In Las Vegas

Baja California Sur, Mexico (October 17, 2008) - The Baja California Sur Tourism Board today announced their participation at the 2008 DEMA Show (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association) taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 22-25, 2008. The Baja California Tourism Board will join over 650 exhibitors featuring the leading dive equipment manufacturers, travel destinations, water sports apparel and services pertaining to diving and will be located at Booth #1310 on the exhibit floor and representatives from the Tourism Board will be available for meetings and interviews.

"Baja California Sur is home to some of the best diving conditions in the world," says Alberto Trevino, Secretary of Tourism of Baja California Sur. "We are excited to participate in DEMA to showcase the beautiful destinations within Baja California Sur that offer divers the pristine waters the Sea of Cortes, referred to as the "World's Aquarium" by Jacques Cousteau."

The amazing and notable diving sites in Baja California Sur include Gordo Banks, a legendary site for schools of Hammerhead sharks, Giant Pacific Mantas and Whale Sharks and Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, where divers of all skill levels can view the largest living coral reef system in the Western Americas. At the Cabo San Lucas Marina Preserve, divers can experience such natural wonders as The Great Sand Fall, a large area under the surface that slopes dramatically into a canyon and gives the effect of an underwater waterfall. Another popular point of interest is Land's End, the location unique to Baja California Sur where the rich salt of the Sea of Cortes meets the constant motion of the Pacific Ocean. This diving site is home to large schools of a wide variety of fish including Bonita, Yellow-Fin Tuna, Roosterfish and large Mantas.

Divers can also enjoy such natural wonders as the archipelago of Espiritu Santo, a federally designated Natural Protected Area located 20 miles east of La Paz. Known as the "Galapagos of the North" Espiritu Santo is the habitat of 235 species of plants, 271 species of fish, 32 types of reptiles, 98 different birds, and 31 species of marine mammals, 11 of which are unique to the islands. All of these elements combined have made Espiritu Santo one of the world's most renowned sites for scuba diving.

Eco-tourists, families, honeymooners, mature travelers, artists and others delight in their discovery of Baja California Sur. Comprising three international airports Baja California Sur is both accessible and exotic. Non-stop flights or convenient connections to Los Cabos are available from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Sacramento, California; Houston and Dallas, Texas; Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, New York/ Newark, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Seattle. Seasonal service is available from Calgary, Cincinnati, Detroit, Edmonton, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Oakland, Portland, St. Louis and Vancouver.
