Aqua Lung's New Zuma BC Takes the Weight Off Traveler's Shoulders

VISTA, California – August 2009 - Explore the world one scuba destination at a time with Aqua Lung’s new Zuma BC, the first product in what will be a new travel S.C.U.B.A. line. Aqua Lung The Zuma BC makes traveling easy with its lightweight, roll-up design so traveler’s can skip the airport “check-in” line and take their BC with them anywhere they go – even on the main cabin of the plane. Its compact, scaled-down and ultra-light design allows scuba divers to safely stow their valuable gear just above their heads. Weighing in at only 2 kgs. (4.4 lbs.), the Zuma BC is the lightest weight integrated jacket on the market with a quick-drying air cell made of durable 200 D nylon and open cell padding that allows for fast drainage and unbelievable comfort. “The Zuma BC is the first BC you can actually roll up or pack flat to travel,” says Olivier Laguette, Director of Marketing for Aqua Lung. “In order to do this, we’ve included only the essential components and developed a new Load (tank) Distribution System to keep it small and lightweight while still making it the most comfortable BC to dive with at home or on vacation.”

No Backpack Necessary:

In order to create a compact, packable BC, Aqua Lung eliminated the hard backpack found in most traditional BC’s and developed a revolutionary new tank Load Distribution support System. By lowering the tank band to the waist and inserting a valve strap at the highest part of the back, the new system distributes the tanks weight evenly while keeping the tank close to the body assuring a comfortable, secure and vertical fit on diver’s backs.

“Air”ing Out:

Up or down the air goes all the way around with Zuma’s donut-style air cell that lets air circulate throughout. The back mount design features three dump valves, letting divers dispense air easily from any position and Aqua Lung’s innovative Flat E-valve TM technology which reduces drag in the water maintaining a low-profile.

“Weighing”-In:

The Zuma BC’s state-of-the-art SureLock II weight integration system allows divers to carry their weight with them rather than strapping on an additional belt. The SureLock II system easily inserts and locks into place assuring that weights stay safely secured throughout the dive. The Zuma BC comes in two colors, Palm Green/Charcoal and Ocean Blue/Charcoal with four sizes XXS to XXL to choose from and is fully adjustable so divers can fine-tune their fit at the waist, shoulder and chest. Other convenient components include:

  • Four D-rings to attach accessories
  • Attachment grommets for a knife
  • Additional fold out storage pocket
  • Sculpted shoulder pads for increased comfort
  • Padded spine and lumbar support
Offering value, comfort and durability, the Zuma BC retails for $395 and can be purchased from authorized Aqua Lung dealers in September 2009. For specific stores carrying Aqua Lung products, log onto www.aqualung.com or call (760) 597-5000.
