Aldora Divers
Aldora Divers will tell you there is no single dive experience typical to Cozumel—at least, not how they dive it. The island, 10 miles off the Yucatan Peninsula, holds a reputation as a drift-diving hotspot well suited for divers who just got certified.

But that’s only the beginning. This scuba center knows that divers want to dive to the full extent of their certification level. To give every guest the best experience possible, each of their seven scuba boats carries no more than six divers, matched according to their certification level.

Moreover, Aldora wants all their divers to get more—more bottom time, more adventure and more unique underwater experiences. They use high-capacity 100 and 120 steel tanks, which provide 50% more air than the standard aluminum 80s that most dive centers use. Their average dive time is greater than 70 minutes per tank—nearly double the standard dive time that other Cozumel operators allow.

Plus, every dive is guided by a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, which is two ratings higher than a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Their staff bring more experience and safety in the water, as well as more local knowledge of the reefs and underwater fauna, from toadfish to purple-crowned sea goddess sea slugs.

Divers ready to dial up their Cozumel experience can book the three-tank, full-day excursion, dropping in on Aldora’s secret spots to the far north of the island. Open only to experienced divers holding a Nitrox certification, these dives show a deeper side of Cozumel—from the cave of the sleeping sharks to current-swept walls where eagle rays are frequently seen by the half dozen. Outside the marine park, lionfish spearing trips are offered to seasoned hunters as well as those ready to learn to master a Hawaiian sling.

It’s all part of the Aldora experience, one that is unique, thrilling and rewarding—and anything but typical.
