American Waters
 The November issue of Scuba Diving magazine contains an exclusive first look at the new book American Waters by photographer Alex Kirkbride. Alex got his start in photography while working as a divemaster in the Bahamas, and went on to a very successful career as both an underwater and topside photographer based in New York City. In September 2002, he packed his cameras and dive gear into an Airstream trailer and hit the road on a mission to photograph what lies beneath the waters of all 50 states. Three years later, he accomplished his goal, and the result is a stunning collection of 164 color photographs of subjects that range from familiar (the U-352 submarine off North Carolina) to the offbeat (a Massachusetts cranberry bog and a Kansas cow trough). You'll find excerpts from the book only in the November issue of Scuba Diving, which goes out to subscribers Sept. 24 and is scheduled to hit newsstands on Oct. 16.
