ScubaLab tested the Tusa Tina in its 2019 BCD review.

We tested BCDs—also called BCs or buoyancy compensators—at Blue Grotto Dive Resort in Central Florida.

We conducted objective tests in the pool to measure each BCD’s buoyant lift and inherent buoyancy, and to gauge its ability to cope with a runaway power inflator.

We also conducted a series of test dives to evaluate each BCD in ten categories including comfort, stability and ascent control.

Its name had test divers cracking that it sounded like a fancy new cocktail, but in the water the Tusa Tina is no joke. Its scores in every evaluation category were very good or excellent, and female test divers specifically praised the stability and comfort of the BCD’s wraparound fit. They also liked the plush back pad that provides support along the lower back and distributes weight around the hips.

The result, as one test diver put it, is “super comfy.” Streamlined and rock-solid, the BCD was rated highly for attitude control and stability underwater. “Just what a BCD should be,” one tester commented. Buoyancy and ascent control were easy to manage with multiple exhaust options and responsive inflator controls. Testers also liked the tank cam buckle, with a half-stop between open and closed that makes setup easy.

The Tina has plenty of options for stowage, with two large zippered pockets, movable D-rings, octo pockets and a zippered pocket on the cummerbund.
