Like the Profile, Sherwood’s Insight has been on the diving scene for a long time. It too has been upgraded with a Deep Stop feature, plus it throws in, among other features, audible as well as visual warnings, an onboard simulator mode and PC-download capability. However, the most noticeable upgrade is the Insight’s alphanumeric display that supports its data digits with screen prompts like Plan, Time and Dive, making it easier to know what mode you’re in. Like the Profile, the intuitive green-yellow-red tissue-loading bar graphs that were used on previous Insight versions have been replaced with small color ticks for marking the bar graphs, which can be difficult to read underwater.
Bottom Line
The Insight is a liberal computer. You can’t program in safety settings, but it’s easy to design your own safety cushion simply by backing off on the pixel count on the NDL loading bar. It offers more features than the Profile, and its extra control button makes it easier to navigate through the system.

Basic Computers |
--- |
We define basic dive computers as single-gas units, nitrox capable to 50 percent. Computers in this category are good for recreational diving, plus they can function as backup computers or simple bottom timers for deep or technical diving. They range from no-frills, budget models to full-featured DCs with air integration. None of these DCs come with onboard compasses, although many come packaged in consoles that include traditional modular compasses. |

Advanced Computers |
--- |
These are full-featured dive computers designed for divers who want the option of ratcheting up their diving experiences. Advanced computers allow you to program multiple mixes up to 100 percent oxygen that can be switched while at depth. They often also offer features like onboard compasses. |
