Luke Keola Ichiyama Memorial Fund

Luke Ichiyama, a twenty five year old Kauai native, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident on January 25, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Christina; parents, Roy and Lisa Ichiyama in Fiji; brother, Adam in Kauai; and grandparents in Honolulu.

Luke celebrated his first wedding anniversary one week prior to the accident. He was an active participant of the Jehovah's Witness Faith in Kapaa. Luke and Christina had plans to eventually move to Fiji near Luke's parents, start a family and operate a diving and fishing charter business.

Luke's work at Seasport Divers was as a PADI dive instructor, a shop assistant, a photo and video producer, a boat builder and mechanic. He guided many reef tours along the south shore of Kauai and grew to be a leader on our Ni'ihau expeditions. Luke's passion for diving was undeniable, pure and infectious. He was a natural in the ocean and enjoyed fishing, diving and surfing in his free time.

Luke's peers, co-workers, and the dive community mourn the loss of such a special person. Luke touched the hearts of all those he crossed paths and treated everybody with equal importance. His joy for life and respect for humanity was a defining characteristic that makes this loss difficult for everybody to understand. Luke's journey from boyhood to manhood had just begun. A future with so much promise turned into a reality so sad.

In this time of need, we are asking for support to lend a helping hand. There were many unforeseen and unplanned costs that arose as a result of the accidents, and hope to raise money for Luke's family to assist with the associated expenses.

All donations can be sent to Seasport Divers, 2827 Poipu rd, Koloa, Hawaii 96756; please make checks payable to the "Luke Keola Ichiyama Memorial Fund".
