Drone Footage of Gray Whales and Dolphins Playing Together

Are these gray whales and pacific white-sided dolphins best friends?

Well, we may not be able to tell if they are besties but it does appear from this video that they do at least enjoy one another’s company. It’s stunning video such as this drone footage captured by Captain Dave’s Dolphin and Whale Safari that makes us wonder, can dolphins and whales communicate?

According to Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), the two mammals communicate via sounds, physical contact and the use of body language. Dolphins typically communicate via “clicks” and “whistles,” the latter being used when dolphins are communicating with one another and most likely when they are trying to communicate with another species.
