Olympus Dive Center
Located along the southern tip of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Olympus Dive Center is ideally situated to offer exploration of the many shipwrecks in the Graveyard of the Atlantic. One of them, the world-renowned WWII German U-Boat U-352, rests in 115 feet of clear Gulf Stream water.
Summer temperatures range from 70 to 80 degrees with offshore visibility averaging 75 feet and an occasional 100+ feet. The Gulf Stream offshore of the coast brings clear, warm and nutrient-rich seawater from the South Atlantic, which in turn brings a host of marine life from tiny tropical to large pelagic. There’s also a large population of sand tiger sharks, which inhabit many of our shipwrecks. The sharks are not fed or visited in a feeding frenzy but encountered in their natural, peaceful state.
Diverse sites, ranging from war ships to artificial reefs, the warm, clear waters of the Gulf Steam and an abundance of marine life from large to small make Morehead City one of the best diving destinations in North America. Olympus Dive Center offers all levels of diving and training from beginner to technical from our three dive boats, docked directly behind the dive shop.
