Dive Quest: Epcot Center

I've seen a couple of trip reports on "Dive Quest" tour and I just wanted to throw in my own. I heard about this tour a couple of years ago and last week I was in Orlando for a conference so I decided to give it a try. I called 2 days in advance and thought I'd be too late, but they has plenty of spots available.

The cost is $140.00 which includes everything you need plus a T-shirt, certificate and a stamp for the ole dive log. They supply all gear, but you can bring your own mask. The gear provided was good quality and in great shape, nobody on the tour complained of equipment issues.

You meet at the front gate and are escorted for a behind the scenes tour of the facility. From there you're shown a briefing video and given instructions about how the dive will proceed. They encourage you to be part of the show and interact with the guests. To me, this was the most unique aspect of the dive.

Once in the water, the dive master leads the group for the first 20 minutes followed closely by the diver shooting video (DVD of your trip is an additional $30.00 and I think it's well worth it). After your tour with the DM, including a stop at the diving bell to take off your mask and smile at the camera, you're free to roam with your dive buddy around the aquarium. They place very few restrictions on what you can do; don't touch the marine life, stay 10 feet away from the area the dolphins are kept, and 1 small area of the aquarium you need to avoid because it's part of another attraction.

The total dive time is 40 minutes with a max depth of 25 feet. If you use a lot of air, they'll swap your tank, but most people came up with over 1000 psi remaining.

All in all it was a great experience and well worth the $140.00, all of which is given to charitable marine programs Disney sponsors. Hope this was helpful.
