It's a major disappointment to descend on a great dive, only to see your dive buddy signaling that your BC is leaking. If you suspect your scuba BC might be leaking air, don't wait to find out. Test to see if your BC is leaking air easily with these tips from our Gear Editor.

How To Test a Leaky Scuba BC

  • Find the source of the leak by watching for bubbles
  • A loose connection may be causing the leak
  • Tighten the connector
  • Still leaking? Unscrew the connector off and check for debris in the sealing surface
  • Clean the connection and reinstall — thread carefully and make sure gasket is in place
  • Leaks in the bladder, inflator hose or inflator mechanism require servicing before you dive
