Holiday Gift Guide 2011 - Halon Dive Gear

Halon Corsair Diving Tool

The Corsair Diving Tool by HALON Dive Gear

This serious diving tool uses a modular, interchangeable design providing divers with versatility in a single, easy to use system. The Corsair comes with a full-sized dive knife secured in a durable plastic sheath. The knife offers a choice of a sharp drop-point or blunt-tip blade made from a hardened stainless steel alloy, making it durable and rust-resistant. Each blade has straight, serrated and line-cutting edges. The sheath secures the blade with retention tabs and a locking system.

Two rugged, compact LED-powered dive lights are included with each tool and can be mounted atop the knife grip or onto one of three positions on the sheath. Each torch puts out 175 lumens of bright-white light and is depth rated to 300 feet. Utilizing a double O-ring seal and twist-on actuation, each light is powered by a pair of CR123A batteries (included). The total burn time is 4.5 hours with over 3 hours at peak output per light. After 3 hours, a low-battery warning system steps down the light output to 20% brightness for another 1.5 hours. Each LED light delivers an Exposure Value (EV) of 7.5 at a distance of six feet. Three lights mounted together on the sheath yield a 9.2 EV, similar to a full-sized lantern grip primary light (only with the added benefit of redundancy in the event of trouble).

Also included with each Corsair Diving Tool is a locking, retractable lanyard offering both snap clip and pin mounting options. The 42-inch nylon/Kevlar lanyard line features a quick-disconnect at one end and can be attached to either the sheath or to an individual light.
The bottom line…the Corsair Diving Tool should be an essential part of your diving kit.
