Buddy’s Reef runs down a steep slope to sand 100 feet below. After a 30-foot kick to the drop-off you’ll glide into a wonderland of hard corals. Black crinoids aplenty cling to the reef wall. Squid, octopus and sea turtles make frequent appearances, and the rare frogfish pops up from time-to-time between the rocks and rope sponges. Keep your eyes peeled for the “house tarpons” that meander along the corals, as well.

Like the reef nurseries just off Bonaire’s shore, this site is a veritable playpen for beginners and non-divers due to its minimal current. A healthy collection of sponges and hard corals make this site ideal for spotting shy critters in the crannies. Small cleaning stations pepper Buddy’s Reef’s, drawing schools of numerous fish species from along Bonaire’s coast. This site is especially active at dusk, but no matter when you decide to dive, you won’t be disappointed with this fantastic house reef.
