Snorkels are a favorite for divers because they help us save air at the surface and also work double-duty as essential gear for pursuing a fun pastime when we can't be at depth. Our 2018 Gear Guide will help you pick the right snorkel for your kit.

The SV2 employs a one-way, self-draining scupper valve commonly found in boat design (the letters SV stand for “scupper valve,” designed to ensure the snorkel delivers effortless clearing) to divert water around the mouthpiece and out the purge. It works in concert with the semi-dry top. The snorkel comes in contoured or flex-barrel designs, with seven color options.

The Rebel Flex features an open-top barrel design with a corrugated lower section of hose that conveniently drops out of the way when not being used. There is a purge valve on the lower end for easy clearing, along with a comfortable mouthpiece. The large-volume lower housing is designed to breathe easy even on long days on the water. The Rebel Flex is available in blue, black and yellow.

For divers who prefer a snorkel with a semi-dry top, there’s the new Rebel Splash. The anti-splash cap on top of the barrel keeps water entry to a minimum. What does manage to seep in can be easily cleared with the efficient lower purge valve located opposite the mouthpiece. The increased internal volume of the lower housing is designed to make breathing easier.

Oceanic has updated the Ultradry with a new ergonomic design that blends its patented Dry Snorkel Technology topper with a flexible, drop-away mouthpiece that’s armed with an enlarged purge valve. Comfort features include a liquid silicone mouthpiece and a push button adjustable keeper with swivel and quick release. And it’s available in eight colors.

Suitable for scuba as well as snorkeling, the dual-lens Metis mask is available in camo with a choice of colored or mirrored lenses. The skirt is made entirely of premium silicone for a better seal and greater comfort and durability. The classic-style snorkel has a soft mouthpiece and secure keeper to attach it to the mask’s wide silicone strap.

These long-blade fins and matching mask and snorkel ensure stealth for spearfishing. The Motus Camo Blue fin’s technopolymer blade is coated in a special film to resist cuts and abrasions. The PVC Jet Camo snorkel and Makaira Blue mask are anatomically designed for streamlining and comfort with a silicone mouthpiece and skirt.
