- Stage Your Gear. Overcome the added task loading associated with cold water diving by establishing a routine and staging equipment so that it can be added in a logical order. Many divers like to wait until almost ready to submerge before donning hood and mask.

- Clip It Off. Keep track of essential items such as masks, fins and computers while gearing up by attaching them to your person with a large clip that can be manipulated when wearing gloves. This will prevent you from searching for stray items while in full gear, and from having to bend down to retrieve said items when heavily loaded.

- Go Slow. Even in cold conditions, you can work up quite a sweat when lifting heavy tanks and weights, or struggling to fit into bulky exposure garments. Overheating can lead to reduced performance, dampen drysuit insulation and contribute to subsequent chills once submerged. Warm is good. But hot is not.
